Temple Miracle

So this last week I went to the temple. I had been happy that day, but missing my old life a lot--missing being a "mom" and "wife." Missing the 3 kids I used to be so close to. But going to the temple was great! Turned out there was a little girl there who was 12 years old--going to the temple with her mom for the first time! She was a little apprehensive, and when the temple workers told her mom that she couldn't participate in the ordinances because she didn't have her own family names, she began to cry. Her mom was trying to soothe her, but she was clearly upset as well. So I sat by them in line waiting to be confirmed. I could hear their conversation, and as they decided to just leave and come back another time because the little girl was scared to go alone, I thought of the people who would not be able to have their work be done if she left--plus how sad for her to leave the temple crying on her first visit! So I asked her if she wanted to come with me. She accepted, and we quickly became friends. This was a great privilege for me--I had always longed for my almost step-daughter Addie to go to the temple with me, but had never gotten that chance. So since the little girl kinda resembled her, it was very comforting to me and a great blessing for me to take her and show her and help her see she wasn't alone. It was so great to see her joy at the people she was able to act as proxy for! She left the temple radiating happiness, and waved at me as she left. What a great blessing this experience was! And what a great comfort it provided to me as I realized that when my dear Addie goes in the temple, even though I won't be there to help her, Heavenly Father will not leave her alone. The temple is His House and He loves All His daughters. He knows them and how to bring them peace. That gives me so much peace and happiness and fills my heart with gratitude and hope. :) Glory to God in the Highest!
